The 4 products you NEED in your anti-ageing night-time skincare routine!
Anti-ageing is forever a hot product within skincare, but with thousands of products promising to deliver smooth, wrinkle-free, and youthful looking skin it can be hard to decide which products you really need.
Sometimes it’s not about which product, but when to use the product.
Night is when your skin is most receptive to certain products and when your cells regenerate and repair themselves. This is why your evening skincare is so important as it is the time when your skin absorbs the most skincare and heals itself.
As a Beauty company with access to hundreds of brands, our number 1 products that keep coming up is an Australian and New Zealand made cosmeceutical brand, Skin Physics. Skin Physics uses scientific evidence to substantiate their claims, and the results speak for themselves. So we have decided on the 4 products that we believe you truly need in your anti-ageing night-time skincare routine to wake up feeling refreshed and looking your best.
Product 1 : A makeup removal cloth
Makeup removal is essential to making sure your skin looks younger for longer. According to Dr Robins Ashinoff Overnight, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at Hackensack Medical Centre in New Jersey, the skin needs oxygen to repair itself and sleeping with your makeup on deprives it of this vital nutrient. “When makeup is left on, it blocks the natural exfoliating process, which can leave your skin looking dull”. Yikes!
WE LOVE: Our favourite way to remove our makeup is the Simply Essential Makeup Remover Cloths. They are reusable and don’t require any makeup remover to work their magic which means they are much better for the environment and you don’t have to use any harsh makeup removers on your skin.
Product 2: A Cleanser
Cleansing is so important because the lack of sebum on the skins surface allows bacteria to penetrate the follicles causing inflammation and acne. Proper cleansing clears pores of debris to prevent dirt build-up, allowing the sebum oil to reach the skin surface which decreases the chances of a breakout.
Not only this but because natural blood flow in the skin is higher at night time, absorption and penetration of skincare is higher. This means that if you are applying anti-ageing products at night without cleansing, less of the essential active ingredients are being absorbed and allowed to work their magic!
WE LOVE: The Skin Physics Dragon’s Blood 3 in 1 Advanced Treatment Cleanser because it is a cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser all in one while being packed with 7 natural fruit AHAs including bilberry and sugar cane plus hero ingredient Dragon's Blood to soothe sensitive and stressed skin.
Product 3: An anti-ageing serums
Serums are amazing for anti-ageing because they are made up of small molecules that penetrate deeply into your skin to deliver a high concentration of active ingredients. Doctor Carlos Charles, founder and medical director of Derma di Colore in Chelsea, said that “by leaving out many of the heavier ingredients that are found in traditional moisturizers, [face serums] contain a much higher proportional concentration of active ingredients”. So not only do serums contain the highest concentration of active ingredients but they are able to penetrate deeper into your skin for more effective and long-lasting anti-ageing.
WE LOVE: The Skin Physics OXYGEN-C Immediate Eye Lift Serum which instantly delivers revitalising oxygen, essential hydration, and tightens skin to smooth away wrinkles while fighting the visible signs of ageing, stress and fatigue! It quickly absorbs to deliver the eye sculpting actives into the skin and forms an external, invisible skin-firming film around the eye.
Product 4: A night cream
Is there really a difference between my daily moisturiser and a night cream? Do I really need two different products?
Daily moisturizers are specifically designed to increase the skin's hydration by reducing the evaporation of your skins moisture during the day while you are exposed to environmental conditions such as UV and pollution.
Your skin needs the most hydration when you sleep as your skin loses moisture and gets warmer which causes your skin to become dry. Although your daily moisturiser will add hydration to your skin, night creams are more effective due to them being formulated with slow releasing ingredients to aid your skin in repair, cell renewal and moisture replenishment while we sleep. They also contain the highest concentrations of anti-ageing compounds which makes them an essential part of our night-time skincare routine.
WE LOVE: The Skin Physics Dragon's Blood Ultra Plumping Night Cream with the following four miracle ingredients that produce amazing results:
- Pure retinol microcapsules refine texture, reduce lines, discolouration, age spots and maintain firmness.
- Hyaluronic acid molecules can hold up to 1,000 times their own weight in water. The vectorised hyaluronic acid in our cream plumps and redensifies skin, filling the look of wrinkles and delivering unparalleled levels of intense hydration.
- Pomegranate enzymes exfoliate to brighten for noticeable radiance.
- Dragon's blood works to soothe tired looking skin, so you wake up looking fresher.
For the best skincare regime, start with product 1 and work your way through to product 4, ensuring enough time in between to allow skin to dry.
TOP TIP: Don’t forget to also use products 3 and 4 on your neck and décolletage to stave off ageing and crepey skin.
The results will speak for themselves.
